Medicilon Interview with Dr. Wenbo Zhou | Focusing on difficult-to-drug targets, three INDs have been approved in three years. What are the advantages of Yuyao Biotech?

The interaction between drugs and targets is the basis of drug design.  Scientists have discovered more than 4,000 disease-related targets, but 85% of them are "difficult-to-drug targets", making them the most difficult frontier to conquer in the pharmaceutical field. At present, outstanding scientists around the world are devoted to conquering these "difficult drug targets".  Wenbo Zhou, a doctor of medicinal chemistry at East China Normal University, is one of them.  Dr. Zhou has been engaged in the research and development of difficult-to-drug target drugs for more than 10 years.  Among them, the drug development targeting the difficult-to-drug target  STAT3  was published in the journals CLIN CANCER RES and J MED CHEM as the first author or corresponding author.  He has received funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and has been selected into the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Outstanding Postdoctoral Fellow...

Medicilon Assists Yuyao Biotech's STAT3 dual phosphorylation site inhibitor YY201 successfully completed dual submissions in China and US

Recently, YY201, a STAT3 dual phosphorylation site inhibitor independently developed by Yuyao Biotech, was approved by the US FDA and agreed to conduct Phase I clinical studies for malignant hematological tumors.  This is another milestone after YY201 IND was approved by China's NMPA in July 2023. It is also an important step for Yuyao Biotech to move towards globalization and international development with its independently built first-class technology platform and leading product pipeline. Learn more about  Medicilon's STAT3-targeted Drugs R&D Services. Shanghai Medicilon Inc. (Medicilon), as a partner of Yuyao Biotech, provided YY201 with pharmaceutical research services (including APIs and preparations), preclinical research services (including efficacy, pharmacokinetics, safety evaluation), and IND application services, which helped YY201 successfully complete dual submissions in China and US. Tackle the most cutting-edge new drug research and development techn...

STAT3-targeted Drugs R&D Service

STAT3 , a member of the STAT family, is a latent transcription factor that is activated in response to various cytokines, growth factors, and oncogene signals. STAT3 is constitutively activated in various human cancers, and its activation is frequently associated with poor prognosis. As a transcription factor, STAT3 regulates a set of genes implicated in cancer cell survival, proliferation, angiogenesis, invasion, metastasis, drug resistance, and immune evasion. Medicilon provides STAT3 drug discovery, CMC research (API + formulation), pharmacodynamics research, PK study, safety evaluation and other services. Introduction of STAT3 The signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) is a family of intracellular cytoplasmic transcription factors involved in many biological functions in mammalian signal transduction. Among them, STAT3 is involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and inflammatory responses, and also STAT3-related signaling pathways are aberrant ov...

Medicilon Assists Yuyao Biotech's STAT3 dual phosphorylation inhibitor YY201 has been approved for clinical trials

On July 20, 2023, the clinical trial application of YY201, a dual-function phosphorylation site-targeted inhibitor of STAT3 independently developed by Yuyao Biotech, was officially approved by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA).  The indications are advanced solid tumors and relapsed and refractory hematologic malignancies. Shanghai Medicilon Inc. (Medicilon), as a partner of Yuyao Biotech, provided YY201 with  pharmaceutical research services  (including raw materials and preparations),  preclinical research services  (including drug efficacy, pharmacokinetics, safety evaluation) and  IND declaration services , helping YY201 successfully pass IND approval and enter the clinical trial stage. Due to its relatively flat target interface, STAT3 cannot provide a "pocket" structure for specific binding of small molecules, and is recognized as a "druggable target".  The team of Yuyao biological scientists has been focusing on the basi...
