What are chemically synthesized drugs? What are the synthetic methods of chemically synthesized drugs?

Many people are curious about chemically synthesized drugs. In fact, in our lives, most of them are chemically synthesized drugs. The common ones are aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid), phenacetin, benzocaine, compound methoxy Naming and others. So how are they produced? The production methods of chemically synthesized drugs include total chemical synthesis, semi-synthesis, and chemical synthesis combined with microbial (enzyme-catalyzed) synthesis. What are the specific chemically synthesized drugs and what are the production methods of chemically synthesized drugs? Take a look at the article!

1. What are chemically synthesized drugs?

Chemically synthesized drugs refer to chemically synthesized drugs that are researched and produced according to chemical laws under the guidance of chemical theory. Generally speaking, it has a quick curative effect and a clear effect on disease treatment. The human body is a complex system, and chemically synthesized drugs lack the analysis and research of the molecular level of the human body itself. They lack the overall comprehensive investigation of the correlation of various parts of the human body. Therefore, although the therapeutic effect is obvious, it has the limitation of treating the head for headaches and treating feet for feet. Treatment characteristics, and often have side effects of varying degrees. So do you know what chemically synthesized drugs are? Chemically synthesized drugs have already become the "backbone product" of today's pharmaceutical industry. 80% of the top 50 best-selling drugs in the world are synthetic drugs. Such as aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid), phenacetin, benzocaine, compound methoxyphenamine, etc.

The drug discovery of Medicilon mainly include chemistry (synthetic chemistry, medicinal chemistry) and biology. Among them, our chemistry team can undertake multi-dimensional business cooperation such as custom synthesis of compunds, compound library construction, SAR compound synthesis and screening, compound structure and biological activity optimization.

2. What is the production method for chemically synthesized drugs?

Most of the production of chemical synthetic drugs adopts the batch method, which can roughly be divided into three types:

1. Total chemical synthesis. Most chemically synthesized drugs are made from basic chemical raw materials and chemical products through various chemical reactions, such as sulfa drugs and various antipyretic and analgesic drugs.

2. Semi-synthetic, some chemically synthesized drugs use natural products with a certain basic structure as intermediates for chemical processing, such as steroid hormones (see hormones), semi-synthetic antibiotics (see antibiotics), vitamin A, E, etc. (See vitamins).

3. Combining chemical synthesis with microbial (enzyme-catalyzed) synthesis, this method can make the production process of many medicines more economical and reasonable, such as the synthesis of vitamin C, steroid hormones and amino acids.

Gather and Work Together to Create Advantages      Facilitate the Research and Development of Oncolytic Viruses, Nucleic Acids, Proteins and Other Drugs As a one-stop biopharmaceutical comprehensive preclinical R&D service CRO, Medicilon has been developing and accumulating for 20 years, always adhering to the spirit of innovation, and has successfully constructed bi/multi-specific antibodies,  ADCs ,  mRNA vaccines ,  small nucleic acid drugs ,  PROTAC , and  CGT technical service platform  that have helped 421 INDs obtain clinical approval.  It is this outstanding achievement that has earned Medicilon wide recognition in the industry and laid a solid foundation f...

A Nickel-Catalyzed Reductive Alkylation of Aryl Bromides and Chlorides for Sp3-Sp2 Bond Formation

In 2012, a nickel-catalyzed reductive alkylation method of aryl bromides and chlorides was reported. Under the optimized conditions, a variety of aryl and vinyl bromides as well as active aryl chloride can be reductively coupled with alkyl bromides in high yields. The protocols were highly functional-group tolerant and the reactions were not air or moisture sensitive. The reaction showed different chemoselectivity than conventional cross-coupling reactions. Substrates bearing both anelectrophilic and nucleophilic carbon resulted in selective coupling at the electrophilic carbon (R-X) and no reaction occurred at the nucleophilic carbon (R-[M]). The 2010 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded for the Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling, and in the past decade the progress in cross-coupling has not only had a significant impact on academic research but has also influenced the industrial synthetic application. The transition-metal-catalyzed union of nucleophilic organo-boronic acids with elect...

What is Toxicokinetics?

Toxicokinetics  is essentially the study of “how a substance gets into the body and what happens to it in the body”. Four processes are involved in toxicokinetics. The study of the kinetics (movement) of chemicals was originally conducted with pharmaceuticals and thus the term pharmacokinetics became commonly used. In addition, toxicology studies were initially conducted with drugs. However, the science of toxicology has evolved to include environmental and occupational chemicals as well as drugs. Toxicokinetics is thus the appropriate term for the study of the kinetics of all toxic substances. Frequently the terms  toxicokinetics ,  pharmacokinetics , or disposition may be found in the literature to have the same meaning. Disposition is often used in place of toxicokinetics to describe the time-course of movement of chemicals through the body (that is, how does the body dispose of a xenobiotic?). The disposition of a toxicant along with its’ biological reactivi...
